The Keiser University football team has been playing quite well lately. They have won three games in a row and they are currently sitting in the middle of the conference standings. However, they have some major challenges ahead of them. Thankfully, they have some great coaches on the sidelines. These include Jalyn Gramstad, Doug Socha, and Doug Toole.
Doug Socha is one of the newest additions to the Keiser University football coaches roster. He has a strong resume of coaching experience in the NFL and college football. His new job will also allow him to get involved in high school football. In fact, Socha is a familiar face in the South Florida football scene.
Doug Socha started his coaching career as a graduate assistant at the University of Buffalo in the 2000s. During his time at Buffalo, he worked on the offensive and defensive side of the ball, while serving as an assistant coach for the Buffalo Bills.
In 2010, Socha won the Class 3A state championship at American Heritage-Delray. Afterward, he took the position of head coach at Oxbridge Academy, where he finished with a 28-6 record.
Since then, Socha has held several positions at the college level, including as a recruiting coordinator and wide receivers coach at the University of Florida. He was an assistant with the Buffalo Bills last season, before he was hired at Keiser.
As the head coach of Keiser, Socha will lead the Seahawks in their first varsity football season. They are expected to compete in the NAIA Division II. The team will play in the Sun Conference this year, with home games at Keiser Football Stadium in West Palm Beach.
Recruiting talent is probably the biggest challenge for Socha, but he expects to have the players in the area by next week. Many of his assistant coaches have ties to the local area.
If all goes well, the Keiser Seahawks will be playing in the NAIA National Championship game in 2022. That’s a big accomplishment for the team, since they have never played in the national championship before.

Prior to joining the Keiser staff, he served as an assistant at Colorado Mesa University in Mesa, Arizona. There he played wide receiver and served as defensive coordinator. His career record on the prep level was 89-32-2, and he coached four consecutive CIF Defensive Player of the Year award winners.
After winning a state championship in his first season as Galion’s head coach, Owens stayed for three more. He led the Warriors to three straight state playoff appearances and was named the Ohio High School Athletic Association’s Coach of the Year in 1985.
Before returning to Ashland University, Owens spent six years at Massillon Washington High School. His teams advanced to the state semifinals in 1989 and 1991.
Owens’ Humboldt State team finished second in 2004, and he coached three members of the AFCA Good Works Team. Among his many honors during his time at Ashland, he coached 25 All-Americans and ranked his passing offense in the top-15 in NCAA Division II.
The Chapman Panthers have gone undefeated in SCIAC play in each of the last three seasons. They defeated both a ranked team and a ranked opponent in the regular season. Moreover, their players were named SCIAC’s Newcomer of the Year, Offensive Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year.
Chapman also has a history of producing All-Americans. Four of the school’s former players have played in the NFL. One of them, Chris Chambers, earned a Rookie of the Year award in the National Football League.
The Northwestern Red Raiders are hosting the first National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) national semifinal game in over 30 years. For the record, the ole Northwestern has won 13 straight and has a 13-game winning streak overall. It’s also the second time in the past three seasons that the Raiders have made the NAIA quarterfinals, a feat that no other program has accomplished.
While this season’s title game isn’t the first time Northwestern has reached the championship game, it’s the first time the Raiders have actually won it. After a sluggish start, Northwestern (13-1) has dominated Keiser (Florida) 35-25 in Orange City, North Carolina.
While Northwestern’s offense wasn’t a particularly effective one, its defense did its part. In fact, the Red Raiders outgained their counterparts by more than two hundred and forty yards and picked off two of Keiser’s passes, both of which they recorded on their way to the victory.
The aforementioned three-yard run by Keiser’s Marques Burgess is the only rushing touchdown of the afternoon. Not only did it come on the first play of a 13-play, 98-yard drive, it’s the first rushing touchdown for the Seahawks since 2013.
The game also featured a slew of other accomplishments, including a pair of first-team All-Americans, three players averaging more than 100 yards of total offense, and four sacks of Keiser quarterback Shea Spencer. And while the Keiser defense didn’t stand a chance against the Northwestern offense, its special teams had a major role in the game’s first half.
Overall, the game was a fitting end to a five-year run that saw the Seahawks go 10-2 in the Sunshine Conference, advance to the Division II national semis for the first time in program history and win their division.

The Region 10 CERTification Program for Educational Diagnosticians is a professional educator preparation program that prepares candidates to meet the TAC Standards for Educational Diagnosticians. Candidates may earn their certification through either a face-to-face or online course. This program is accredited by the Texas Education Agency.
The program is comprised of three main components: a hired internship, field-based practicum, and pre-service coursework. It is a full academic year program that concludes with the conferral of Certification as an Educational Diagnostician.
Candidates in the field-based practicum must accrue a minimum of 200 clock hours in Educational Diagnostician activities. These experiences are closely monitored and provide the candidate with a realistic perspective of the field.
Once candidates complete their pre-service coursework, they are eligible to apply for hire. To be eligible, participants must pass the TExES examination for Educational Diagnosticians.
The Region 10 Educational Diagnostician Certification Staff Support Program is designed to provide candidates with a comprehensive knowledge base to become effective diagnosticians. The program focuses on assessment, intervention, and professional conduct. This program also provides ongoing support and training to its members.
Field-based experiences allow candidates to obtain a comprehensive perspective of the field. Students receive feedback and guidance from their supervisors and instructors. These experiences allow candidates to apply what they have learned in the classroom to a real-world setting.
Each candidate in the Region 10 CERT Program for Educational Diagnosticians will be required to participate in a field-based practicum. Candidates will receive close supervision from the CERT Field Supervisor. Practicum candidates are expected to accumulate at least 200 clock hours of Educational Diagnostician activities in order to qualify for graduation.
In addition to the field-based practicum, the CERT Program for Educational Diagnosticians includes pre-service coursework, a paid internship, and ongoing professional development. Upon completion of the internship and a successful field-based experience, candidates will be awarded Certification as an Educational Diagnostician.
